@thor you certainly arent wrong that spending on things that make you mentally healthy and happy are neccesary too.. Im not claiming you shouldnt be spending on anything... My only point is, cutting back on those small every day expenses absolutely is a mentality and practice needed to get out of poverty.

@freemo i budget and adapt to whatever income i have. i could be very strict, but it's not pleasant for me. i want to have a nice life now, not later. later does not feel real to me until it is now.

@freemo i understand long term thinking on a logical level, but the motivation is lacking, so have to operate around what motivation i have, and it generally doesn't care much about tomorrow. so everything must be arranged to fit the kind of motivation i happen to possess.

No problems there at all. I wasnt trying to give you a hard time for your personal choices.

Just trying to point out that these small repeated choices in the present do really have an effect on long term financial success... that said as you point out that may be a tradeoff that is worth it to you, and that is fine.

@freemo they are not choices. they're circumstances that i find workarounds for.

@thor I would be hesitant to tell you how much choice you have and how much you are a victim of your own mental state... I dont think any has a right to dictate that onto an individual... Afterall some things may be pathological and quite hard to work against and simply calling it a choice certainly belittles that struggle.

That said I would say that these "choices" are something that one can overcome their baser programming with the right disciplin, psychiatry, medication or whatever is needed for most people.. some might be able to do it by willpower and going alone, some may need medical help, some may not be able to do it all because whatever their mental state is it isnt "treatable" because of some underlying disease.... whatever the case may be i would never judge you or anyone to make it sound like "simply a choice". It is "simply a choice" like choosing to stop cigs is.... you can do it, but its not simple.

@freemo now, okay, i agreee

but now, how is choosing

and for what reason?

ah, something that happened previously.

@freemo people do things for a reason

reason = past events

cause and effect
