the usa lacks a ruling class who have a reason to care about the future after they're gone.

@jeff Oh, why would they care any less than anyone else? Seems they would have the same concern for their family and friends after they are gone that anyone else would

@freemo why? christian moral values of course. the problem is it's an anti hunan death cult run by project paper clip nazbol eugenics goons.

@jeff So your asserting the ruling class is exclusively christian? And Christians are evil?

@freemo @jeff He is probably implying the opposite. The problems we are having are the LACK of Christian moral values.

@wholemilk @jeff

So non christians dont care about the future, only themselves?

@jeff @freemo Yeah see, this is what I mean.

Apparently Christians can't be greedy, and non Christians can't do any generous work.

@jeff

I mean, nonchristians have values beyond themselves... christians by definition act out of a desire for personal reward in the afterlife... So technically of thet wo groups it would seemt he chritians are the self-serving ones.

But that is hardly a debate of value for me to dive into.

@wholemilk

@freemo @wholemilk Christian gnosticism is the ideology of multi generational delayed gratification. by definition those who value such are holding a Christian moral compus.

@jeff

As someone who studies the Gnostic traditions heavily I cant say I agree with this view. While its a fine interpritation and im glad you have one that is more forward looking, I would not say this is centrally defined in christian gnosticism.

@wholemilk

@freemo @wholemilk of course not, but it was absolutely the first to do so in a palatable way and it remains the one sole owner of this lesson.
@freemo @wholemilk the traditions of Christianity were not defining the lessons explicitly spelling them out clearly, they were an emergent phenomena which was a side effect of leaving that up to interpretation while giving a guiding direction instead of carrot and stick corrective strikes
