@darth Neither freezing brine or freezing water makes sense as a reason to pick either system. They may be how the system is defined, but not necessarily what we consider in selecting it.

The fact is fareinheight coincides with human expiernce of temperature much better than celsius. F has 0 to 100 and anything outside of that range is more or less lethal to a human without protections and fits nicely within the human range of temp, unlike C which doesnt really align well at all.

Seems like what scientists want to use should be the least of our worries, it should be what is best suited for your average person, and I'd argue that is more so F than C.
