2% of all US births are facilitated by #IVF. Most of those kids have two parents, some grandparents, aunts, uncles. That's a lot of people who may be furious when IVF shuts down because of this bonkers #GOP push to declare #embryos #babies. Figure something like 5-10% of the far right just got pushed on something they may not at all be willing to yield on.

Doubt anything about contemporary conservative Christians in the US: their ideals, their moral clarity, anything. But do not doubt their fanaticism about having their own children.

Oh, and not for nothing, but IVF is a $23 BILLION a year industry in the US and growing. If you were trying to motivate some highly organized corporate donors to go Dem, you could hardly have done it more quickly.

@dirtyoldtown It will never work out till we define a non-arbitrary line... it isnt fertalization, or birth, neither of those make sense as they are arbitrary and doesnt consider when life deserves protection as life.

To me the answer is simple, you can kill clusters of cells that belong to you all you want, you simply shouldnt be allowed to kill human neurons without there being a risk, or if those "neurons" requested death (euthanasia).
