Reminder that you can post about #Mastodon / #Fediverse on sites like Twitter, using the hashtags people are using to criticize them. I go there sometimes and talk about how we aren't owned by a crazy billionaire and how blocking actually works here.

@Raccoon They used to block anyone from twitter who promoted maastodon or the fediverse. Just posting the url would get you blocked... Did they officially stop doing that?

@freemo
Yeah, there were regulatory rulings in the US and Europe for that.

Even still, a lot of people are deleting their Twitter accounts, and what I'm saying is that that is not the most strategic way to support Fedi. If you are going to delete your account anyway, it's better to use your account for dissent until Elon deletes it for you.

Edit: also, I've been posting JoinMastodon.org, which is a URL that is less likely to get blocked. If they start blocking URLs, we can always just rotate through them: they can't block a URL until they know what it is, and we have the resources to make several of them at a time.

@Raccoon

Yea if thats an important thing to you that seems like a reasonable way to respond.

@freemo
Never Capitulate Preemptively. If you want to leave #Twitter because you don't like what's been done there, don't delete your account, try to pull other people away.

I've been posting Mastodon / Fediverse ads on Twitter for nearly 2 years now and I haven't been banned yet.
