For example, when you are taught about greenhouse gases in school, they don't tell you why no action is happening.
The political part is missing.
The thing is science is not separate from politics.
Similarly. technology is also not separate from politics.
And this is the compartmentalisation we do in education. That is the problem.

@freeschool yes. Categorization is super handy and all, but is super stifling in the sciences and education. Cross pollination of disciplines needs to be encouraged way more heavily. It's where novel insight comes from

@Bigolbootybuttcake
I liked what you wrote and *perhaps* this quote at the end of this writing is similar -

After the quote I was just just wondering if you would lightly agree or what you think about it since I liked what you originally wrote and wouldn't want to change it or something.
Thanks- quote is:

" Science is not separate from politics. Similarly technology is not also separate from politics.

And this is the compartmentalisation* that we do.
That is the problem. "

@freeschool I dont necessarily agree that all things are political always. Theres bleed out/crossover. Like moments when they certainly are political in use

Examples:
The CDC initially saying masks were not effective was 100% a political move.
I'm not convinced something like the james webb telescope is

Likewise for tech:
Current tech giants lobbying to ensure they can rob your meta data is 100% political.
I dont think hobbyists making wearable tech is at all

I hope that makes sense

yeah just on this bit of what you said:

"I'm not convinced something like the james webb telescope is"

and I think is the tricky / invisible part or the part I need to understand in why it's triggering me - because *I think* (not 100% sure) that everything now pretty much exists because it's allowed.
___^ That line above quite does well that a long line of people consciously have been blocking / banning / funding / expanding / pumping people's taxes to... and more... and that all is the kind of filter that I give weight to... that really if it was anything bad for them (and in fact if it wasn't 5000% giving back to them like the yoghurt markup) then it wouldn't exist... or had some political gain which I will label very shortly as war... (so this might create some disconnect as it needs to see government funding of war industry as a primary driver of profit / our whole existence more than anything else we would be 'poor' (i.e didn't steal all the riches, steal resources, set up supply chains/colonies etc)... so let's try not to blame it all on them but they basically enabled us and optical devices whether for 'fun' looking to space, may have comes from the space-races or whatever king-of-the-hill domination game (just get to the hill and keep there as long as possible and like a mario ? box hit that technology for as much as it gives back using government / bank-backed funding / research...

So hope I haven't made a meal of it and think yeah a telescope probably does have it's own road map and isn't innocent... and although it might not 100% evil... you can say like making a bullet that scoping your enemy on guns is not far off... but anyway not to make it too longer I think my own statements or in combination seem sure
--> "military first and then domesticate it" is the model I'm regularly going to win on
+ "I don't give a fuck about you or anyone" <---gov and banks
+ "Unless it's useful don't fund it ban it, and then make money from it... all of that is political and plenty of dead inventors will raise there hand if they could!"
+ "old mentality was brutal and primitive" I wouldn't fucking trust saying anything back they without being nailed or burned literally.

I guess it's hard to say a collective template or mentality exists or not but I think that is measurable though I don't have a way to express right now other than how binary people do things and how that filters the go ahead or not, profit or not, law or not, regulatory agreeing or not etc...

you just never could do much without other people getting involved--- so that makes the political weight easy to attribute....

I'm still thinking on the whole measuring thing (the top post),,,, although this clears up a sub part of it I feel with politics and somewhat people measuring for only there reasons or valuing in only there ways for themselves
(different people count differently or seems the same but different accounting methods fucks it all up which is why you get disproportionate wages or that might be planned too probably... but you get people arguing over 10 oranges and 10 lemons and it's like noooo! Meaning through numbers... are lost!
