MASTODON HYPERLINKS that LINK TO THE BADDIES / google / youtube

Money is going to Google via YouTube via Mastodon... That's the main theme here.

Google / YouTube inside Mastodon is an issue (for me and I believe for all of us, even if you're ok with it)- and while I don't want to erase links I think an alternative could be automatically added or somewhat a switch in preferences to allow users to mask links or use alternative wrap-around sites, (even open software filter sites) to do what they politically believe in.

I'd like to change habits to avoid these corporations basically and let people at least have 2 links to choose from (making it clearer and more conscious) helping the responsibility of user AND Mastodon designers...

Another idea is to make plaintext youtube links (to copy and past) and leave easier link as the safer / less-corporate links...

So ideally for me it's about convincing your Instance Admin or Designers to think different. And just using Your Code for something more healthy

So instead of offering our users as cash-cows as mass links (like the other feature designer consider politically and practically) thinking about this in teh same way just like Mastodon is not Twitter... means Mastodon and everything else can also be considered.

Sysadmins COULD disable hyperlinks showing their alignment about YouTube / Google links

but we might tolerate it and leave it and offer another link simply under (or before starting with https://yewtu.be/ ) if admins don't want to be ALL IN for non-google stuff... let me know what you think!

I think external $ite$ known to us all IS effectively and politically doing damage.

This also helps and shows yours own politics.

To have google / youtube here says we like to link to them and see them grow when measurably they are the enemy

Changing this means clicks will say to people "hey users it's not as easy for bad stuff, *think again*- you'll have to paste the youtube.com link or use invidious and we care about data tracking via embeds"

THAT'S A KIND OF ACTIVISM USING THE MASTODON SYSTEM.

Kinda why we're here is to use / express / use better freedoms to change code accordingly AND even if it's annoying the aim generally is to reduce these things.

I know personally of an activist that says *they are anti-google* but for visibility still go for google-youtube links--> slap my face
Ok before it was maybe less visually the same but now it's the same.

FOR ADMINS:
Your code is persuasion which works to question and educate people even this questionable activist who breaks their own code of conduct, principle and priority! It's coercion so it's not too tempting for lazy or forgetful people (system helps not need to manual put an alternative link)

We need help and ask our system for this!

Clicking links is not NEUTRAL and as host$ are more than ever not neutral... if it was to child porn of course that is bad (and also an extreme argument) but what is also Google to us if not extreme corporate aggressive harvesting of our data in profit models totally terrible?

Adults being raped in this way is not far extreme. It's being done even if you don't see it.

Technologically things are not 'innocent', they are pervasive habits and are also to be unlearned.
