Disconnect of "Open Source" and "Free Software / Freedom Software"...

Richard Stallman about the disconnects of achievements and not the philosophy *together*

"...so that they could promote the achievements and have the philosophy hidden and buried."

Disconnect of "Open Source" and "Free Software / Freedom Software"...

@freeschool the problem with RMS is that he values the software's freedom over the users'/developers' freedom to use the software.

Also that he's a dick.

Disconnect of "Open Source" and "Free Software / Freedom Software"...

@thoughtcriminal In other words, is it correct to say that you mean that he's over-ruling developers somewhat or presuming that everyone wants to go towards Freedom Software?

Disconnect of "Open Source" and "Free Software / Freedom Software"...

@freeschool it isn't quite right to say that he is overruling devs, since people choose to use GPL. But GPL restricts what the software can be used for by devs. So yeah, I guess he is presuming people want that, more than they actually do.

Disconnect of "Free Software / Freedom Software" or "Open Source"...

@thoughtcriminal Yeah I think it does come to a clear-cut point he's clearly choosing. So far I've found measurably more than agreeable in explaining mostly, in fact surprisingly so, but not disclosing a big love here...

RMS as acronym or not makes frankly a lot of sense in all the media and audio. Wouldn't be surprised if got help on presentation as it's quite simplified and seemingly what most people need (advanced users I could see might be insulted),

I did a few more quotes, next example will be "I have to respond in a way that's sharp enough that the person recognises...and does a double-take and realises that he was mistaken in what he'd been told before - but I have to avoid making it so sharp that the person's feeling that are hurt. It's a difficult balance."
