Is there any reason to keep a service like mailgun if I don't have emails turned on for my instance and I won't be receiving new sign ups?
@BeAware probably not. But if you turn on emails in a year’s time and am confused that you don’t get any: will you remember that you deactivated Mailgun?
@michael Yes, because I pay for it currently :kek: can't forget paying for something and then not paying for it anymore.
The reason I ask is because obviously you can't add multiple mail DNS records, so I can't have an actual email with my domain to send and recieve things from because MailGun has it tied up....
@freeschool @michael I run my own instance (social.beaware.live) and when you create an instance you have to have an email that is able to be connected to Mastodon so that when a user requests a forgotten password or signs up (or any other reason mastodon would send emails) mastodon will send that email from your domain.
Since I am by myself, I don't have the need to receive emails besides the initial setup process.
