Why can't a king kill another king?

Considering that Kings KILL ALL OTHER PIECES... but not the other king?

Reminds me of arbitrary "game of life" where "arbitrary" means "because someone said so" (which is fair enough for games, but sometimes not logical or has it's reasons beyond the average person / player... indeed in games and in life!"

Deep I know...

@freeschool A king cannot move into check, and as a result, one king cannot get close enough to capture the other king without risking getting himself captured.

@ubuntuxp Ah yes, I did kind of forget that now and also remember before I did think of that (so fair point)

... BUT still I think that rule or part of the game could be also asked "why?" as a subset of the first about Kings killing all else...

Does anyone know the original story (probably not) and is it just another thing accepted since it can work whichever way a mass of people play it?
