Google YouTube paying? + Mastodon example (not encouraging using alt links) + "support protocols, not platforms" <---- like it
@bloodaxe You know I'm much more for the paying nowadays and less resistance... rather than stealing / pirating / wanting for free...
But because it's *Google* YouTube having so much data already, it seems paying them doubly worse even with those mini ethics (they took down sign of "Don't be evil" so it's quite clear it more business than Fediverse type small/sharing business).
So I'd have to say no to paying them (doesn't progress our position and measurably goes backwards) but do pay the individual channels you love for example...
And I'm happy to hear more about your way as often I've realised I could be more flexible or mix both worlds rather than strictly one of ethics / not paying etc.
I guess not letting them close people in is my focus, since being able to predict data and push prices up comes from knowing data and people's next moves.
--- Mastodon / Eugen example ----
I've been disillusioned (or done that to myself) since some developers and admin actually don't want to recommend their users / community to use alternatives while they develop things similar lol ! (Like Mastodon founder Eugen said to me he didn't see why he should recommend any using alternative YouTube links of which millions are sent out daily to everyone's expense / reducing our causes / feeding them etc! (It's also able to track Fediverse through that I think)... so anyway Eugen not seeing potential to use similar open-source or Invidious also seems a worry as "we should" be UNITING ALL SOFTWARE if it is similar minded - so maybe not tomorrow he add small option in Mastodon to auto-redirect / use Invidious link, but one day @Gargron@mastodon.social⠀⠀

So what chance we have I ask the world with an almost-dead looking-into-space bewildered smile!
