Old robust ways and protocols (unless really new is proven) + people's awareness improved / Time to grow the mind not just tech!

@bloodaxe In general... I would say people themselves being better on simple protocols are going to be the better winner in the end...

I know the question was a bit different to my answer but overall XMPP / Email / ActivityPub / WebRTC styles of stuff I think is low footprint way and less complicated with simple ways added to that like password / temporary key / filtering people 1 by 1 / 1-use / disposable links etc

e.g. privnote.com/ for example being useful for sending passwords, safer uploads bin.dembased.xyz and instances of other software that can be spun up personally by people - maybe it's susceptible but less a dragnet thing...

yeah like Jitsi can be a personal instance and simple text pads etc... even FTP beats Nextcloud as it's no-install / native to all Linux and again with simple measures (FTP+password or switch off when not used) and better practices... it's almost like not needing 1 big thing, and that being most effective lol

The expectation that 1 big system does this I think is flawed - we need to unite to protocols and older ways unless new can prove it sticks around for using mutual / safer ways more often....

My two cents thrown in there...
"people practices improved more than installing more tech"

(..or "people practices on top of existing good stuff" as it's more than enough and keeps our focus ON IMPROVING PEOPLE since we have basic / non-bloat ways)

if you're not looking to improve people then you just have stupid people on clever technology" (sorry for use of stupid) who are leaking everything else around

By not advancing people's practices /awareness/care for people (which I think is 100% the aim) means we fail in the end... or keep moving platforms without caring... no use having great stuff while everyone leaking data elsewhere AND not caring to improve alt ways. We have enough already, time to grow the mind !
