@MastodonEngineering Looks awesome and thank you for all the new shiny features.

My 2 cents on this update - the previous Local/Federated feeds worked better than the new "Live Feeds" from a UX perspective. Live Feeds scroll automatically and disrupt the readers experience. Maybe add a button to update the Live Feeds, rather than auto updation.

Secondly, I wonder how much incremental server resources the Live Feed will require and if it might put too much strain on smaller servers who dont have too much funding.

How intense are these new features like search? Some kind of gauge would be interesting like "Lighteight" or "Intensive" etc as comparison to previous or standalone feature...

@boop @MastodonEngineering
Additionally to the server resources comment, I was thinking if there is a way of measuring or stating clearly how much more each major release needs as requirement - like how much does this step up from previous version or let's just say having Live Feeds on?

Since everything gets bumped up to higher requirements, then makes sense higher requirements = higher resources... so just a little take on that would be interesting.

Not all things need this look but some features could be ranked as "intensive" or "lightweight" by just an opinion or comparison to last version (or some other way).

Thoughts welcome even if nothing concrete.
