If it's AI accounts perhaps that something to look at but without tying it all in - Your idea of pleasant I guess is a bit risky and what offends me in any big design...

I think this is:
1- Overreach into 'our experience'...
2- Mastodon has not wanted to do things better for links (like adding alternative youtube links (which rakes in Google YouTube tons of cash and advertising)
3- Now Mastodon funding is in USA (503 non-profit... Becoming Americanised signing terms and conditions there... is more than one thinks it is signing the dotted line overseas... let a bit of Julian Assange remind that you don't have to do anything wrong to create you a whole heap of mess and let them take over playing ball with them / getting money from there $hee$h... Makes sense in a lot of ways but the biggest overarching ones historically about U.S.A domination / #wars so going there is being part of that in many ways...
