Pinning this so hopefully more people see it:
We don't love RSS enough
It's mostly a call-to-action that if you can style your feed, you definitely should so that those unfamiliar with it can be assimilated.
RSS / IPFS / FTP / OPDS etc
@fosstian @gabriel #OPDS Seems like a good idea
- honestly first I heard of OPDS...
Other software that can use it as server is:
#Calibre (haven't used often but when I did it was decent and more able than anything else for it's time)
On the topic of things dying / fizzling out..
Things die perhaps because it needs someone to constantly to (re)introduce it to the next person like a torrent seed, otherwise it doesn't get enough usage and interest to carry... and users anyway would naturally be minimal users perhaps of things like #RSS...
Side-topic but related...
But I think the way forward is using multi-faceted people who can interface (chat) like Gabe that can work according to others a bit and rope in everything with new friends - even if friends like me harp on about the same things a bit too much - we accept that as part of all humans - else we die alone / with good practical software unused because there wasn't any #handholding / helping set it up (which is what #Fediverse seems totally opting for, and I've asked them A LOT for evn just chat and doesn't happen).
See #FreeSchool about making #Friendships like #Torrent #Seeds for the way to seed everything and learn more nuanced things and actually people themselves / accepting others as we go along / get the best from everyone...
If you have other similar suggests shoot me -
#IPFS is another good one
#IPFS with #FTP / #sFTP style interface for example - have you tested that?
Try this:
https://cahlen.org/files/videos
Super simple to navigate like it was #2000 decade again.
My kind of stuff all this though not using much bandwidth nowadays to try anything big other than audio so I haven't set it up - can anyone out there rate how easy it is / basics?
