In the ‘80s and ‘90s we had a plethora of small, practical, affordable, efficient hatchbacks. They could transport 4 or 5 people. You could fold the back seats down and move big things. They’d get 40mpg. They’d cost under $10k new. The 14” wheels used reasonably sized tires that were cheap to replace.

Then people decided they wanted the same hatchbacks, but taller and heavier with tires that cost 3x as much. They’d burn 2x the gas and pay 2x the price to buy it. SUVs are a scam.

Your 1st paragraph hits well to realise the reality and would be great to follow that up with real prices (you mention x3 x2 x3 but still think worth mentioning actual prices if you can / in your experience. Thanks
