Some people still seem to believe that organizations have a single structure, one kind of power, and one kind of #leadership. They could not be more mistaken! This is #OrgPhysics:

In 2011, #BetaCodex Network associates @silkehermann and @nielspflaeging created the concept of #OrgPhysics - a powerful theory and likely the first robust and multi-faceted theory of organizational #leadership ever presented. It's a new era for #OrganizationalDevelopment, #change, and the science of #OrganizationalBehavior. Ignore #OrgPhysics at your own peril!

@peterproell This is a great reflection, and a great warning to all everyone attempting to "turn the pyramid" and create "circles" in organizations - instead of #decentralizing and creating a #CellStructureDesign!
#betacodex
The most common mistake in #cellstructuredesign: Coming up with a „round pyramid“.: New labels and structures, but top decisions, goals and strategies are still centrally imposed. Most commonly I see this when departments or devisions want to „go decentralised“ on their own - which is of course a contradiction in itself. Ask yourself: Did we paint the cell structure from the outside-in or rather top-down?
Transform entire organisations. Now. #BetaCodex
"If the #BetaCodex, consistent #selforganization and #decentralization are such great ideas, then why isn't everybody doing it?"
Whenever I hear that kind of question (and I hear them quite a lot), I like to reply this:
"Well, let's amplify that a little. Look: If #democracy is such a great idea, why isn't everybody doing it? What do YOU think?"

@fruitywelsh Web standards a pretty good, yes
@jookia Standards help. Even better automated tooling that give little check marks for passing projects. Education, as well as finding common ground between non-excluded groups and marginalized groups for features and tools.
At least those are paths I see as good paths forward. That said, Web standards seem to stand above other spaces in these regards. With this one being recommended to me in the past for accessibility: https://www.w3.org/WAI/fundamentals/accessibility-intro/
@fruitywelsh That does make sense, but I guess it brings up another question of how we should get people to do this. There's little incentive to make inclusive programs.

@jookia Exactly. I wouldn't want someone to burn out, or feel pressured not to start because they didn't think they could make something totally inclusive.
@jookia yes, in a , if one is to create then it ought to be created without exclusion based on these things. Not in a free work required by individuals other than the "ought to make a better world" idea we should have.
Has anyone here ever experimented with desktop clients for #Mastodon on #Linux?
I'm currently checking out #Whalebird, especially for its ability to manage multiple accounts. However, I'm missing the web-interface's versatile, tweetdeck-like layout. @sengi_app might be something interesting, but I haven't tested it yet...
