Just watched the Andor finale and, damn, such great writing. The message Bix conveyed to Cassian could have been forgettable or anodyne, but "I love him more than anything he could do wrong" just hits you right in the gut.
Also, the whole "dramatic speech to the huddled masses that sparks them to rebel" thing has been done a million times, but you can still make it hit with good writing. "Darkness is not visiting any more. It wants to stay." Gilroy writes fantastic soliloquies.
Thinking about modern TV -- in which every episode has to have a dramatic/shocking set piece that will be discussed on social media the next day -- it's remarkable to look back over this season of Andor & realize that the highlights are all speeches, or still shots of Mon Mothma.
There wasn't even that much "action" at all, & what there was was messy & over quickly. All the impact came from the drama of human beings trapped by larger forces, deciding how to respond.
@drvolts Any time the dude starts hammering on the anvil, you know shit is about to go down and that occurring at the same time as the speech was really cool.
