@garyackerman IMO, somewhat, but I think society has played a role in so much as children are taught that in order to obtain a great life, they need education and higher education such as college. While this is generally true, not every degree has equal weight in importance and earning potential. A lot of degrees might not allow a graduate to earn a great living, and the greedy lenders take advantage of this by not being truthful to a degree's potential.
