#openstreetmap people! What are the most current thoughts on copyright for store locators?
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Copy_content_from_a_business_website
I've found this and read the mailing list. While the position held here would be amazing I don't know if there is much consensus.
Can you share your thoughts?
@dean Yeah for sure, I think the local single business sense I totally agree.
I guess to give more concrete examples. I'm looking at the AusPost store locator and correlating the data with OSM.
Does this idea break down for you personally when it starts to become a chain of stores?
Even in that case, what's the difference of physically going to each store/business and checking it out on site vs doing it via the web.
I frequently see notes that say "please checkout if data are coherent locally"
So if you do choose to copy from the website, probably best to add such a note.
@barefootstache @dean I'm glad to hear it. Appreciate the thoughts!
@georift if it's for a chain and it's their own website and I think it's okay. Just as @barefootstache said for sites you don't know, add a note like fix me please physically check.
@dean @barefootstache Will do thanks.
We have a few post offices missing in Perth! 🙃
@georift how is copying the business details off the menu or window different to a website?
