@lgpsales invited me to participate in a challenge in which, for ten days, the person needs to post one image per day from a movie, without posters, without explanation, without a title. 10 days, 10 images, 10 friends.

Happy Birthday Sir Isaac Newton who was born today 381 years ago!

His pioneering book Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica, first published in 1687, consolidated many previous results and established classical mechanics. Newton also made seminal contributions to optics, and shares credit with German mathematician Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz for developing infinitesimal calculus, though he developed calculus years before Leibniz.

Yay! The most melancholic day of the year is here! Let's share a toast, seeking solace in a glass, momentarily escaping life's burdens. For now, let's feign happiness and camaraderie! Cheers!

Everybody knows that the suit to block Donald Trump from the ballot in Colorado was filed by Dem…

Wait, this just in. It was filed by Republicans.

My annual call!

Please suggest a cool paper/preprint in your field in the last year or so!

For a course I teach, I am collecting papers on: cell/dev bio, microbio, neuro, maths/stats/CS/chem/phys applied to biology.

Students use one paper as the basis for a "research grant application" that they will write. So papers that are cool but also open doors to future study are ideal! Do you know one? It can be your own, I don't mind!

Food plants in Brazil: Origin, economic value of pollination and pollinator shortage risk ($)

botany.fyi/s4Gmb3?b1

Olivera et al. investigate the origin, pollinator dependence and economic value of 199 food crops cultivated in Brazil to understand to which extent (1) Brazilian agriculture is vulnerable to pollinator shortage, and (2) Brazilian society has already achieved a comprehensive perspective about crop dependence.

@TheCozyCat Yep! it's just that they are getting better and better at doing what they do... no surprise 😅

@TheCozyCat It suggests things we like that we could end up addicted to, this can generate dangerous conspiracy virtual bubbles detached from reality

Looking for frost damage?
Field phenotyping data have enabled the development of a genotype-specific index that quantifies frost damage in winter wheat, making it possible to screen varieties for frost resistance.
Here is our recently published paper in #Plant #Phenomics on how we did it: spj.science.org/doi/10.34133/p
