I’ve been #gaming on a mobile #standupdesk. I like it a lot! I need a more permanent standup setup.
@GabeMoralesVR I’ve had plantar fasciitis and a couple of knee ops before and at least for me walking, skating, running, standing is what keeps my feet and knees in shape. Also not gaining weight helps a lot.
@gpowerf I guess I misspoke, I shouldn't say it kills my legs, but rather my feet. My arches are fallen. Standing a long time makes my feet ache unbearably, but only standing. When I'm doing actual exercise like running where I'm stretching my arches, they feel fine. Just standing around putting weight on my arches for an extended period of time is so insanely painful at 37 :-\
@GabeMoralesVR oh that sucks 😞 as we get older things fail. My shoulders aren’t the best.
@gpowerf aint that the truth? The horrors of aging lol
@gpowerf interesting idea. I do have a motorized stand up table I got during the pandemic and gave been using it while working (I'm an it trainer) since I've quit the firm and moved back to my desktop PC and started streaming, I use a normal hight table ATM as the other is simply to small for a streaming setup. Might tinker around a bit though and see if I can spread the setup to 2 tables xD
@whatsgoingdom I find it much better than sitting down. Gets me more in the frame of mind to perform well and my knees and feet thank me for the regular use.
@gpowerf what's at the base on the monitor? External hd?
@higharchmage yeah. A 1TB HD.
@gpowerf Fast enough to game off of?
@higharchmage for non-Series games yeah. I also have one of the official expansion cards, half a TB.
@gpowerf This is on a deck?
@higharchmage SteamDeck? XBox. But the controller works on PC too.
@gpowerf I have an arcade cabinet with a PC inside that is my "stand up" spot, but I've learned as I've gotten older that wearing flip flops in college in hilly-af Austin Texas destroyed my arches and standing for more than 20 minutes wrecks my legs, haha.
