Native support is not only better for players but also for developers. Developers work very hard to balance crossplay and that balancing controller vs. mouse and keyboard is very difficult. Mouse and keyboard users typically have an advantage over controller users in terms of speed and accuracy. Controller users typically rely on aim assist to compensate for their disadvantage. However, aim assist can also create some issues such as unfairness or frustration.

Gyro aiming can help bridge the gap between controller and mouse and keyboard users by providing more precision without relying on aim assist. However, if developers don’t have native gyro aiming support in their games, they lose control over how gyro is balanced in their games. Players who use software or hardware solutions to enable gyro aiming may gain an unfair advantage over other players who don’t use them. This can undermine the game balance.

Therefore, I urge developers to consider adding native gyro aiming support to their games and platforms (erm, yes Microsoft!). It can improve the gameplay experience for both players and developers by providing more precision, comfort and balance. It can also attract more players who are used to gyro aiming already.
