@gpowerf The more things get geolocation blocks the more people will learn about no-log no-knowledge VPNs.

Such bans are pointless and just push people to being less and less visible to authorities. I actually think on balance that’s a good thing.

@wiredfire I agree 100%. And given how pushy VPN companies are with their marketing I really don't think there are many people from the online generation out there who don't know how to bypass a ban like this.

@gpowerf With folk like Proton offering a completely functional free tier that would suit most people’s basic needs too.. I can see VPNs becoming the next basic essential expense for being online that we all just accept for our protection & ability to operate online without limits.

For each barrier thrown up there already exists absurdly simple workarounds. Until legislators realise this & figure out that you can’t legislate the web and that education is key they will make no progress.

@wiredfire oh, thanks for the tip :) I didn't know that Proton had a decent free tier.

@gpowerf Any time! You’re limited to 3 pre-determined endpoint locations (US, Netherlands, and Japan), can’t run p2p like Bit Torrent, and have a “reduced” speed (not that I’ve ever noticed). So no good for accessing streaming sites or big downloads but for web and app content it’s spot on.
