@mikemathia do you know what a Kawasaki Barako? It's a small motorcycle that's designed to have a side car attached and is sold in the Philippines. It's used as a bike, with a side car for passengers, to carry farm animals, to carry produce like coconut, etc... Essentially a cheap pickup.
There's also something called a Bajaj Cargo, which is a rickshaw type vehicle with a pickup bed.
Lastly there are cargo tricycles and these can even had dump beds on hydraulics. My brother-in-law's company uses them to deliver small construction materials short distances, for when using a big Isuzu truck would be too much.
All of these are built for work, and are super affordable. Most full size pickups are built for luxury to act as family vehicles.
