#Meta will not be pleased that @BBCRD has abandoned #Threads while still maintaining their self hosted #Mastodon account.

👉🏾 #BBC Gives Up On Threads (By #Instagram), Sticks With Mastodon darnell.day/bbc-gives-up-on-th (via @darnell@darnell.day)

Too Long; Did Not Read:

👉🏾 Many brands are abandoning Threads (including #NFL)
👉🏾 Meta’s geo news ban of #Canada 🇨🇦 could have spooked BBC
👉🏾 Lack of public Threads API makes it difficult to automate posting news
👉🏾 BBC just prefers Mastodon

@darnell@one.darnell.one @BBCRD @darnell@darnell.day I’m hopeful that institutions and individuals will eventually see that the freedom afforded to them by joining the Fediverse with their own servers is unrivalled. 🤞 maybe the BBC has realised this and is willing to play the long game.

Twitter as we knew it is dead, it’s pretty much a cesspit now. There has to be a point soon where simply being there damages an institution’s image.

@gpowerf @BBCRD My guess is that 2024 will be #X / #Twitter’s final year of influence due to politics. If #JoeBiden beats the #GOP front runner (probably #DonaldTrump), then X will fade into irrelevance as a cultural cesspool.

If the unthinkable horror happens & #Trump beats #Biden, then X will fade away while #TruthSocial gains ground as the place to join.

@darnell @BBCRD yeah, yeah. I keep forgetting Twitter is American and that American politics exist. I stay away from watching news from my own country because it’s so depressing, so I’m not about to watch news about America 😄
