Just completed another Mastodon migration, this time from the c64.chat instance, which is very sadly going to disappear on December 1st.

Since my previous account is going away, I guess an #introduction is in order.

I live in Rome, Italy (I'm from Naples, though), I'm in my early fifties, and in the last year and a half I started to finally understand more stuff about the #Commodore64 , mainly thanks to the #XCBASIC cross compiler (if you're curious: xc-basic.net/ ).

I still have to learn plenty more, but in the meantime I had the audacity to put a couple of little #C64 games on jjflash.itch.io

I'm quite sad that c64.chat is going to shut down, I also hope to feel at home here just like I did there :)

#introductions

@JJFlash c64.chat seems like a very niche server for 2023. :) I've never migrated Mastodon server, how do they go? Lose most of your followers?

@gpowerf Well, it was meant for C64 sceners and veterans (I'm grateful for being accepted, I am neither, I'm just old :), and since the Scene is pretty much alive, it had potential. Alas, apparently the majority of the Sceners prefer other means to stay in contact...

It's not that hard to migrate, the main nuisance is that not everything gets transferred (like profile bio & images, filters, followed hashtags), and you *always* end up losing a few followers, maybe even your bookmarks (it only happened to me once, on four migrations I did). So yeah, you move only when you absolutely have to.

@JJFlash the server I am on is very friendly and nice, but not up to date and I've considered migrating. I was just wondering what your experience was, thanks :)
