Best-selling car models vary widely across different regions of the world. In this toot, I will compare the sizes of the following areas: ASEAN, Latin America, Europe, North America, and the world overall.

ASEAN is a regional grouping of 10 countries in Southeast Asia. The best-selling car model in ASEAN in 2021 was the Toyota Hilux. The second best-selling car model was the Isuzu D-Max, another pickup truck. So the ASEAN region loves pickups!

Latin America is a region that includes Mexico, Central America and South America. The best-selling car model in Latin America in 2021 was also the Toyota Hilux. Another pickup-loving part of the world.

Europe is a continent that consists of 44 countries. The best-selling car model in Europe in 2023 was the Tesla Model Y.

North America is a continent that includes Canada, the United States and Mexico. The best-selling car model in North America in 2022 was the Ford F-Series,.

Africa again favours pickups and again the HiLux is the best-selling car.

The world is a planet that has about 200 countries and territories. The best-selling car model in the world in 2022 was the Toyota Corolla, a compact car.

Why is the world average a small car but the most popular in terms of single models almost always a pickup? Because second, third, and fourth places do tend to be dominated by popular small cars around the world. #weirdCarMastodon

@9to5google I do like this new naming scheme, I like the idea that anything with a Plus should be good and anything without well... you take the risk, your budget device might not be too good.

@vitaminsludge@mastodon.ie some countries in Europe favour very small cars like the Yaris or Fiesta. But much of the world goes for basic tough vehicles like the HiLux or Fortuner. And some countries even still go for old-fashioned full-size sedans, look at Korea buying Hyundai Grandeurs like it was 1979 North America!
