@aral Better in the long run, very painful in the short run.

I used to enjoy tweaking my #GNOME setup but I've had too many plugins break during major version upgrades. Now I just use #PopOS and its been stable enough for me.

@mischievoustomato @gamingonlinux @graf I'll shill PopOS here, it just works, only slightly less than the SD itself. But you can use PopOS as a Steam/browser machine without doing anything Linux-y at all.

@gamingonlinux I don’t think the trend will reverse any time soon. With Proton and dedicated Linux gaming hardware like Steam Deck the gap will widen.

Nothing sums up this year more then Zoom demanding that their employees come back to the office instead of remote working.

Nothing.

I'm happy there's renewed activity around Usenet, such as a new management committee and group maintenance to remove obsolete groups and create new ones.

@Linux_Is_Best@mastodon.social I started using Debian sometime in the late 90s if I remember right. Still use it today.

I was stressing because I was walking to my usual coffee shop where I always have a cappuccino and I wanted an iced Americano. Their reaction was great though *gasp* “I’m afraid you can’t have that!”. 😄

@killyourfm God that’s really really horrible! Was it created to torture and haunt us for ever?

And I think the issue will get worse over the coming years and I think it’s doubly economic (no budgets allocated to development) and cultural (too much resistance to anything new). .

The current issue with reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete in schools and hospitals in the UK is symptomatic of a generalised lack of investment in infrastructure. And it’s everywhere: housing, hospitals, railways, roads, etc… the UK seems to develop at a glacial pace compared to a large part the world, particularly compared to Asia much of which enjoys futuristic infrastructure by comparison.

@gamingonlinux the fact you need Edge to use Bing chat is crazy! I have Edge installed in my Linux boxes just to use Bing chat!

And that’s all I do with it.

Microsoft: we will only use what you set when we’re forced legally 🤣🤡

Their desperation to get you to use Edge however they can is just funny.

@Mawrkee there is an Xbox in the picture, but not connected to the screen. In fact, that game (Farlight 84) isn’t available for Xbox.

I’ve not had a TV connected to a receiver or cable service in over 10 years. Do you have live TV at home?

It might be labeled as unsupported, but Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is very playable on the #SteamDeck, and the experience can be enhanced with a nifty mod for 40 FPS (or higher).
