Is Cory Doctorow right in doubting that any platform that launches as a single-company project will resist the pull toward enclosure? Even if Bluesky’s protocol is nominally open, the question is:
• Who funds the servers?
• Who decides on moderation?
• Who controls the namespace/identity registry?
If these stay centralized, then you’ve just created another Twitter clone with a veneer of openness. The danger is that early adopters get lured in, and only later find themselves just as locked in.

EU bestraft Google nicht - aus Angst vor Trump

Die Europäische Union hat eine bereits vorbereitete Kartellstrafe gegen Google überraschend auf Eis gelegt. Hintergrund ist wohl die Sorge vor einer Reaktion aus dem Weißen Haus. Für den Rechtsstaat ist das eine Bankrotterklärung.

Vonnegut ist praktisch immer gut. Allerdings war Kurt Vonnegut wohl eher der Meinung, dass die gute alte Welt “f*cked up beyond repair” ist, oder täuscht das?
