Them: I haven't gotten sick yet so Covid must be over or I must be like... Immune to it.

Me: If you wait until you are disabled or dead to act, well that'd be a shame. Many people are asymptomatic when they are infected-- nearly half-- but they still spread to others, they still are at risk for long covid. Mild cases are causing later heart and brain damage. #MaskUp #CovidIsNotOver

On this week's Ted Lasso, Roy said 4:00 am is the best time to attack someone because that's when people are least prepared to defend themselves. Well hahahaha on you potential murderers: 4:00 am is when I'm wide awake in bed ruminating over all the mistakes in my life but ALSO feeling rage at all the people who have fucked me over at one point. Bring it on, psychos, at 4:00 am I'm just looking for a reason

Glad to see Josh Matlow leading the field. We could do a lot worse if the race settles between Matlow, Chow and Bailão after 12 years of Rob Ford and Rob Ford in a nice suit. But a minority of 15-20% of the city is about to decide #Toronto’s next mayor. We need #rankedballots #voteTO

You've no doubt heard that the Great Library of Alexandria was destroyed in a fire & with it, centuries of knowledge, learning & prose.

But that's not the actual story. The TRUE story of the destruction of the Great #Library of Alexandria has more to teach us than the #myth.

It's Leonhard Euler's birthday today! He was born in Basel on April 15, 1707.

Euler was a relentlessly energetic mathematician, physicist, astronomer, geographer, logician and engineer who founded the subjects of graph theory and topology and made pioneering discoveries in analysis, number theory, mechanics, fluid dynamics, optics, astronomy and even music theory. When he lost sight in his right eye, he remarked

"Now I will have fewer distractions."

and even when he became almost blind in his other eye he averaged one paper a week.

I love how he seized the day and explored all the possibilities available to him. Harnessing the tools of calculus, he came up with dozens of amazing formulas, like the one below.

But how do you find a formula like this???

It's not magic: it uses a method called "Euler's continued fraction formula" which can produce *many* similar formulas. This method is not easy to guess, but you can check it using high-school algebra, especially if you don't worry about convergence - which Euler didn't, not much anyway. Then, to apply this method, you need to know some calculus.

Let's see how it works!

Absolutely disgusting take from a supposed medical doctor. Of course, she's also a COVID minimizer and vaccine "skeptic." The Venn diagram for those two conditions, racist, and piece of shit, is sometimes just a blurry circle.
