Originally, a blue check mark on Twitter meant verified: a person was who they claimed to be.

It quickly came to mean prominent – according to the obscure criteria of Jack Dorsey’s Twitter.

Elon Musk introduced paid Twitter, which made the blue check meaningless: pure nihilism.

The oil and gas industry would go out of business overnight if we could harness the power of human stupidity.
