As you see horror unfold in Northern Syria from the quake, remember that it is preceded by a decade of the most brutal war of this millennium. Waged by their own government. Including a systematic campaign to destroy hospitals in the region that Vladimir Putin openly bragged about.
All while the rescuers in white helmets have been vilified for years as terrorists and crisis actors. Particularly by powerful, credulous westerners whom I'd literally spit in the face of given the chance.
The fun thing about Montréal is that in the middle of the winter the sun rises due south.
