Acquired a free Delta planer from my neighbor. Wasn't working. One new power switch and we're rocking. #woodworking
After a frustrating evening attempting to glass a foam nosecone form and some sleep, got it figured out. Put four layers on. Should do. Now I gotta figure out the shoulder... #rocketry #highpowerrocketry
Yup, the one on the right.

A way bigger version of this scale model. https://estesrockets.com/product/009720-pro-series-ii-doorknob/
It sims to only 750' or so on a H130 motor. Will be good on many I motors.
@bryanhansel They work really well grooming tight twisty singletrack. A bit top heavy, but once you're used to it, they are pretty easy to run.
@freemo Thank you! I'm enjoying this place! So many interesting people.
Yeah, cheese, it's life...now I'm hungry...
Ok, it's clear I need a way better #introduction post.
Hi, I'm Isaac. #wisconsin born and raised and still living in this wonderful state (just now on the opposite side of it). As a lover of all seasons, this is definitely home.
I grew up on a dairy farm and migrated away due to the draw of computers and getting a degree. I work as a lead systems and software engineer; which lets me enjoy the hobby of collecting hobbies. I am most definitely found being busy. I spend copious amounts of time #cycling, mostly riding and racing #MTB but also enjoying time on the road bike and commuting by bike to work when possible. I also coach middle/high schoool MTB racing and have spent several years on the board of our local MTB advocacy group.
I enjoy the outdoors and spend a lot of time #camping in our #nationalparks and other spaces; towing a little Aliner classic camper around the country and enjoying it all with my wife and son. I enjoy hunting (no, I'm not a gun nut), fishing and hiking. I spend too much on #photography equipment and not having enough time to use it; and can't wait until retirement so I can shoot more. #birds are one of my favorite subjects. If we're not enjoying our wild spaces, we're donating to orgs to help preserve them.
I'm always tinkering and #making things; my upbringing (poor farm kid) allowed me to learn to be rather handy and have the ability to make all kinds of stuff. Some days I'd much rather be running my welder than a computer.
In the late winter and early spring you can find me making #maplesyrup from ~100 taps on equipment I've built. My dad taught me the art and science of it and now my son gets to learn and we have a lot of fun.
And, I enjoy #rocketry. Low, mid and now high power - but I'm only L1 high power certified so far. It allows me to make stuff. I enjoy scratch building immensely. It's also yet another reason to be #outside and spend some fun time with my son.
That's me in a very condensed version. Glad to be here.
Stuck some fins on the 5" diameter Big Daddy. Internal fillet fun up next. Also got the motor tube and forward centering ring epoxied into the Doorknob body tube. #rocketry #highpowerrocketry
@cassey I think you're on the right track with taller socks. I like tall/thick wool socks in the winter or my ankle area gets too cold. A bit warmer shoe/boot may also help. If you're on flats, maybe just some lightly insulated boots. Balaclava or gaiter you can pull up should help the face; that's a tough area to keep warm.
@bryanhansel Groomed is awesome. Our club has two Snowdogs to cover several of our trails and they're awesome. We've seen huge increases in trail use once we started grooming. And, unlike most volunteer efforts, it doesn't seem to take as much to find people willing to operate them. They're fun :)
Veteran's Day means a lot to me; but a few years ago it got way more personal. Returning a soldier's dog tag on Veteran's day in 2014 will stick with me until I pass away. Here's the story. #veteransday
@bryanhansel Wish I had more consistent conditions like you; it's always a crapshoot (and mostly crap) here in southeastern WI. But, I got a new set of Van Helgas for the Pugsley and am itching to get some snow miles!
@benholmen No clue, but we'll figure it out.
@benholmen Welcome aboard!
@IoanSaid Nice! I'm near Milwaukee, WI (US). I'm also rolling off the board of directors for our regional MTB advocacy group/club in a few days after five good years of major transformation and growth in our area.
@IoanSaid My son does over here in the US. Was a USAC Midwest region XC MTB champ at 9 years old. He's now mainly just doing Middle/High school racing and I'm a coach on our composite team (several schools). Super fun for both of us.
Another #modelrocket #rocketry #modelrocketry project I'm working on is a scratch-built scale model of the Aries mashup that was the Red Tigress 1 mission on 8/20/91. Nothing fancy, physically. BT-60 tube, conical balsa cone. Rear fin shroud was a bit challenging, but not bad. Working on making decals in GIMP tonight I am deviating from scale by just going with one 18mm motor mount. I considered going with four 13mm motors, but that's probably risky on this and not a lot of good delay times worked with a 4x cluster. I have never seen a kit of this rocket, nor any other scratch builds. I love how this thing looks and can't wait to finish it up and fly it.
