Just convinced a friend to try out Riot.im with me today. Sadly, the UI is nowhere near ready for average users yet. E2E encryption is not the default, and when you turn it on, you get so many "PANIC!! INSECURE!!" warning messages. And the verification process to get those to go away... difficult at best.

Good for encryption / security nerds like myself. Bad for people who just want to have normal day-to-day conversations.

@pcrock With E2E, I find the verification process to be a hassle and it sometimes gets it wrong - as in, same machine, *possibly* same session (not logged off, just closed browser and opened it again), still it asked me to reverify the keys. Not sure if this changed since I last checked, reverification meant that you had to do that for *all* keys assigned to your user ID. Or I might not be remembering them correctly - but I do remember the *hassle* part. 😆
