Moving to new instance, fediverse drama
It’s with a heavy heart that I’m moving to another instance. This will be the 3rd server I’ve used in the very short time since I started using Mastodon.
I’m not moving because I don’t like #qoto.org — it’s a wonderful community. I also appreciate the many useful features which its operators have added.
Unfortunately after the recent nazi attack at least one other well known instance, #hachyderm.io, has “suspended” (blocked) qoto. The reason given on their about page is ‘Federating hate speech in the name of “free speech”’, which is TOTAL FUCKING #BULLSHIT! Hate speech isn’t tolerated here as evidenced by even the most casual glance at the local timeline.
Unfortunately there’s at least one person on that instance whose posts I enjoy. Since the whole point of being on Mastodon is communication, this unfair disruption by the #hachyderm leadership has forced this move. While I hope that @nova@hachyderm.wtf (interesting that they themself recently moved away from hachy…) comes to their senses, I’m not waiting around.

@imabuddha@qoto.org @nova I've just now become aware that #qoto.org has been removed from the #hachyderm.io blocklist on github. (https://github.com/hachyderm/hack/blob/main/blocklist) I'm not sure why after nine days their server's blocklist hasn't been updated… Still, thank you @nova for doing the right thing.
Had I known this change was actually going to occur (soon?) I wouldn't have moved.

@imabuddha @nova this is going to be a deal breaker for normal people. Amins need to cool their guns or they're going to do WAY more harm to the entire enterprise of decentralized network than any single post.
It will cause more super-nodes that have a tacit understanding that they won't block one another bc they're "too big to block."
Worse it turns "it doesn't matter which server you join" false. It'll frustrate people when they can't find their peeps.
