@ben Being new here I can't say whether thread writing explanation is needed, but on the instance I'm using (qoto.org) the post size limit is quite large. 😆

I always saw the Blue Check as having nothing to do with account verification. There were always better ways to establish account verification.
No, the Blue Check was a simple means to establish a class system of users.
To those who had it, Twitter gave you privileges—created the notion that if you had a Blue Check, you were more important to them.
If you didn't have a Blue Check, then you were just one of the unwashed masses—there to be a pair of eyeballs.

@tokyo_0 I agree that in the long-term it won't matter. I will say that qoto.org has more settings & features, several which are really useful to me.
@jellycrystals My plan is to only post from here, and to eventually close down my birdsite account.
I'm giving https://moa.party/ another try. It couldn't connect at all when I was on mstdn.jp.
Fingers crossed that I won't mess this up. 🤞

@short Well, I think what happened is that when I set up this new account I imported my following list before moving my followers from the old account.
I'm still very new at all of this so I might be mistaken. Perhaps doing the follower move then importing followers wouldn't be as confusing.

Transferring followers is automated by the move, so it's easy.
Exporting & importing the lists is simple too.
The biggest PITA is editing your profile & adjusting all of the settings.
