Are there other mathematicians around here? Please, show yourselves! And tell me about what you are working on. :D

@jahnke Hi there! There are a lot of math people on mathstodon.xyz, if you want to follow some people 🙂.

I am working on symbolic computation (also called computer algebra) !

What are you working on?

Hi @erou, how are you?

I am working with left-invariant involutive structures on compact Lie groups. It has a fancy description. Still, it is just the study of solvability and regularity of linear systems of partial differential equations. These linear systems have some nice algebraic symmetries inherited from the Lie group. If you are curious about it, you can ask questions or even take a look at my thesis: teses.usp.br/teses/disponiveis

Symbolic computation is fantastic! Can you be a little more specific on the problem you are working on?

@jahnke I study arithmetic problems related to finite fields, that appear in cryptography or coding theory. For example I study the ways of efficiently computing embedding between finite fields 🙂.

Fantastic research field, @erou! Where are you from? Are you a PhD candidate?

@jahnke Yours seems really nice also! Though I must admit I am not really a partial differential equation guy...

I am a French PhD student located in the Paris area. That's my third year! (PhDs are shorter here than in some other places, so it might also be my last year...)
