If you're upset about the Twitter news below, here's what to do:
1. #blockallads. It's a simple protest that will work if enough people do it
2. Use another app to post to Twitter. I use Buffer free edition. It's a compromise, but it also leaves you off of their platform.
3. Don't like 'em? Block 'em.
4. They got you mad! Don't retweet anything from them. Use an image instead. Remember to algorithms, ENRAGEMENT = ENGAGEMENT.
@AmandaHilden I am keeping mine. Just this week, I got to talk to MC Hammer and my ECW fav, Sabu. You just can't do that on other platforms.
The 'one that must not be named' blocked me. Guess it was something I said!
@jaysonmassey Exactly! That’s awesome you got to talk them! Twitter is a place where you most likely will upset at least one person everyday even if the post is completely positive! You just can’t please everyone! Still I miss it already though!
@jaysonmassey
Do not use Twitter. Their business model (collecting your private data and using it to influence you) makes them a threat to democracy no matter who owns it. Just get off the platform now.
Assume that any business (or charity) that has your info is selling it for revenue. It's not just social media sites.
Right now, I would vehemently argue that there is NO working business model at Twitter. I would also add that there are workarounds to the algorithms they use. The post is a bunch of those, but not all of the workarounds.
@jaysonmassey
I'm well aware how prevalent the issue is.
It's just that I recall digital rights activists raising alarm bells during the early rise of social media. Cambridge Analtyica was Facebook operating exactly as intended, and Twitter works the same way.
@jaysonmassey Or just leave Twitter 👋🔥
@jaysonmassey Meh I just left but will keep my account up for awhile to see how things pan out before making a big decision to shut it down or not.
