Watching a news segment on programs to train new auto mechanics. They look great, but I can't help but wonder what the push to EVs will do to this job segment over time, even if the rather insane mandates being imposed are stretched out (as I strongly suspect will have to happen).

@lauren Depends. I think some of the EV makers want to be the ONLY source of fixes (a la Apple).

On the other hand, cars are becoming more and more expensive, so fixing them may become more important, not less.

Also, are car repair skills transferable? I broke down in South Carolina near a truck repair place that fixed my Honda and the 18-wheeler and RV while we were in the waiting room.

P.S. Some things in an EV just can't be fixed.
