I used to work in a supermarket on the checkout before barcodes so I had to press in every items price. If I liked the look of someone or I thought they looked a bit poor I used to put the odd things through without punching in the price. I once gave someone a whole chicken.

@fesshole I got busted by my supermarket manager using the 10% staff discount button (used to use it all the time!) when a customer using a chariry food voucher came through. The payment and processing was printed on the voucher so I was then grilled as to why a charity case with no job managed to get a staff discount.
