After 20 years not using Fortran, I am thinking of using it again for projects in which I need speed and Python’s numpy and cupy are not enough. A positive is that the Fortran community seems still active and offering interactive environments and parallelism. Anyone still using it?

@jerlich yes, that is the other option. I played with Julia and liked it a lot. In favor of Fortran is some nostalgia and that Julia can’t yet compile to a reasonable small standalone executable.

@polavieja yes. I think the lack of binary builds is a serious limitation of Julia. They are working on it :)
