Not going to lie - I hate that China is a ruthless, genocidal dictatorship because I'd love for Loongson to be properly available in the west so it could properly compete. It's clear the people at Loongson know what they're doing, and I'd love for it to be part of the goddamn market.

Ugh.

@thomholwerda If we didn’t boycott US products because of the so-called War on Terror (Iraq, Afghanistan etc) we probably won’t boycott China for doing a similar thing to its muslim separatist minorities (instead of doing it abroad).

Maybe we will prevent importation of Chinese chips to protect local production but it will never be over moral reasons. Has it ever happened (and not been a pretext?). Capitalism doesn’t require ethics.

If I were to throw to the bin all chinese products at home, the cleanship would make Mari Kondo blush of delight.

If our governments were to block China completely, Amazon would have to delist 80% of their catalog.

China would be the hardest country to block for us; it would skyrocket inflation and cause shortages for months.

So maybe we should start doing it now, step by step.
