There is plenty of people saying the USA is not even going to have free elections anymore. The fact that the Republicans are doing everything they can to rig them says otherwise. Of course, an election with a ton of gerrymandering, voter supression, etc. is not exactly free, but Hungary has just clearly demonstrated that Trump could be dethroned if there is a modicum of freedom in the elections. Of course, that requires honest public servants and a lot of people's effort, but it can be done. People fleeing hinders that.
So force is not the only one thing that can overcome modern fascism.
The only battles you are doomed to lose are the battles you concede before they are even started.
The worst enemy of freedom is defeatism.
If we send there all the nasty people and bring here all their nice people, we will end up having a country populated by nasty people with the biggest nuclear arsenal on Earth.
We need nice people ruling the most powerful countries. Otherwise, we are going to be really fucked, wherever we are.

We could do like them after WW2, and just accept the scientists and those of worth to us, regardless of beliefs or their actions during the given crisis.
That said, let's not be like them, since the thought sickens me.
