PSA:

If you are wearing smart glasses and come to the ER, the smart glasses people are going to get a recording of my history, exam, and discussion of your results. You wouldn’t believe how often I unexpectedly find cancer, or syphilis, or other conditions you may not want big tech to immediately be privy to. Meta isn’t subject to medical privacy laws. It also isn’t my job to recognize your camera and give you a heads-up. In fact, big signs in the ER tell you recording is not allowed.

@mcnado
I have taken a few photos in the ER, violating the policy, but I only took photos of parts of my own body. No photos of staff or other patients.

@brouhaha @mcnado I mean, what you do with yourself is obviously your own problem…

@kkarhan @brouhaha @mcnado Yeah I had my ER doc ask me if I wanted a picture of my flayed knee and I handed him my phone. I’ll spare you. #fuckMeta

@patmikemid @kkarhan @mcnado
I didn't ask permission. Had anyone noticed and objected, I would have shown them the pics, and offered to delete them.

@brouhaha @patmikemid @kkarhan@c.im I ignore it when patients photograph their own injuries or care. Videos are a bigger issue because they may capture other patients, or conversations, but honestly at this point I just assume I’m being recorded.

Those kind of glasses should be illegal, everywhere.

Ok, nice, some people can be more responsible than other.

But I don't know what somebody is doing with their 'glasses'. And I shouldn't have to ask, even less have to believe whatever they answer.

There is far more potential for evil than good. No way I want glassholes around me.

The only good smart glasses are broken ones.
