@jljcolorado Hope you will come back to mastodon, since Twitter is no longer a public space to learn life-saving info re how to reduce covid aerosol transmission.

Your work has helped so many of us stay safe (and contributed to my working model of safer hybrid indoor/outdoor therapy settings- using your classroom exercises calibrating & verifying CO2 indoors) TY!

Thanks for the nudge. The think is that I don't have enough time as it is to do either Twitter or Mastodon or anything else. E.g. I ended up writing a thread this morning because I couldn't sleep, and saw some interesting responses to something I tweeted last night.

I am under the impression that mastodon has very little engagement in terms of users and posts, compared to Twitter. And a lot of folks not using mastodon, including outside the US. Am I mistaken?

@jljcolorado Elon's latest twitter purge/privatization caused a huge migration wave over to Mastodon in the past few days. Twitter no longer a public square for info, now becoming a private club owned by Elon. BluSky also billionaires profit center (Jack Dorsey teeming up w Elon & supporting RFK anti-vaxer).

Deepti Gurdasani tooted a while ago re how to crosspost twitter & Mastodon, to make communication more efficient (will find & toot to you)

Dangerous when billionaire bullies control info

For those who are also using mastodon, this is great advice- just tested this. You can use it to automatically crosspost in either direction or both (twitter <-> mastodon) which makes content accessible for those on either platform. Just use this link: crossposter.masto.donte.com.br

@dgurdasani1@twitter.com Can recommend connecting this crossposter app: crossposter.masto.donte.com.br

@jljcolorado Mastodon has some international participation.
But it's networks are less well-integrated, many say by design so cannot be overrun so easily by trolls or billionaires. Seems like Mastodon needs more critical mass & interactions, like a brain developing its neural networks, or a society creating similar.
Tyranny relies on human "efficiency'/laziness. We automatically do what's easiest- it's why I stayed on twitter so long, (until Elon suspended my acct for not giving my phone #)

@jljcolorado

There are more _people_ on Twitter, but in my experience not more engagement (and I've seen other people saying the same).

Covid protection info is valued here - there's a good number of covid-careful people, and I've seen little or no mockery here of still taking it seriously. (though that could be partly because I'm on a science-themed instance - moderation on the Fediverse is primarily handled locally.)

I understand not having time for this stuff, though!
