I made a #peertube instance, to embed videos on my site without making visitors submit to invasive tracking by surveillance capitalist's deceitful embed codes.

Does Masto embed okay?

Twitter kinda looked like it would, at least with a thumbnail, and then changed it's mind after a second.

"Bob" is too much for it! It's too free. They hate Freedom on Twitter.

Lets find if it embeds here on Masto by singing an old #subgenius song.

Let me know if you see a player, or a thumbnail, or something else.

Neither, I guess. For me at least.

Oh well.

I generally attach images anyway and that breaks the embedded players everywhere.

Humm, actually the embedded player is even working if I look at the thread in a private window>

Masto often seems to not bother to display the embed/preview stuff for things I post myself come to think of it. Sometimes it does so if I like my own posts as if I'm an onanite or something.

Yep. Sure enough. Liking my own post mode the player appear. Why does that happen? Weird.

@pre I think it's not a matter of having to like the video, but just interacting with the post. I assume it has to do with saving resources. If you're not interested enough to go into the thread view, like it or repost it, why should it waste bandwidth on it?

That said, I'm not sure nor an expert. That's just my experience.
