@snowyfox The problem is, they're all crap. Well, not all, Rimbaud, Baudelaire and Boris Vian are cool, Proust may be all right, but everyone else is just boring. Not necessarily bad, just boring.
I haven't read _Madame Bovary_. Maybe that one is good, too. Everyone loves it.
In my experience, the best French writers are foreigners like Beckett and Cioran.
