p.s. For anyone wondering what the heck this post is about, XMPP is a federated instant messenger platform. It's like a much nicer alternative to Whatsapp.
XMPP does for messaging what the Fediverse does for social media.
There are lots of independent XMPP servers, and the servers form one giant federated network so you can message/call people on other servers.

What sets it apart is the ability to use it in conjunction with https://jmp.chat which is essentially a bridge between regular phone lines and xmpp , I highly recommend the service!
