@kaia has this any relevance besides indicating people are changing? it only means people score less points at tests desgined for people 40 years ago.

sure the iq tests are adjusted for each generation and cultural background. but this doesnt mean people get dumber necessarly. just people changed
@grillchen @kaia the tests used to be very culturally biased but cheap computing made available advanced statistical analysis so now they can tell if questions are unfairly punishing groups and remove them from scoring. both from a taken test and from future tests.
@Moon @kaia yeah but big generational gaps cannot be taken into account. and our life did certainly change alot in the last 20 years.
@grillchen @kaia they have only gone up for 100 years and now in the last 20 years they went down. This correlates well with standard of living going down for the first time for younger people. It is well known that prenatal and early environment has a big effect on intelligence so it could be related to that. or like kaia said as a result of lower attention span as a result of things like Internet access. for the latter i have noticed a drastic decrease in attention span compared to when i graduated over 20 years ago.
@Moon @kaia mhh yeah but what if new generations are better at other skills which are (not yet) part of an IQ test. like evaluating information like kaia said^^

@grillchen To be honest, the example @kaia used (i.e., judging something by just sifting through it without taking the time to fully understand it) is not what I would consider a sign of intelligence, either now or in the future.
